Important INFORMATION
We have relocated
- From January 2026, The Suncoast Chess Club has relocated to the Environmental Centre, Immanuel Lutheran College Buderim. 126-142 Wises Rd, Buderim QLD 4556.
Our new location
- Review the map shown and locate point 37. The Chess Club House will be located at this new address from 2026 onward.
- The facility will provide a state-of-the-art Chess Club environment.
- We have changed the tournament format schedules and only selected tournaments will be officially CAQ rated. However, all tournaments will be Queensland Junior Rated (QJR). Please check the tournament schedules further information on these schedules for the tournament codes. Note that (QJR) only tournaments will not require CAQ Membership, as these are regarded as a separate rating.
- All CAQ participants must be current members of the Chess Association of Queensland (CAQ). Proof of active CAQ membership must be presented prior to participating in any clubhouse tournament.

- Scheduled Tournaments from 7:00 pm Tournaments will be Queensland Junior rated. In addition, only the classic tournaments will be rated with the Australian Chess Federation (ACF)
Sunday Afternoon
- Social chess from 1:00 pm till 4:30 pm
- Scheduled Tournaments from 1:30 pm Check the Sunday Schedule for rating type.

2026 is divided into four dynamic quarters, each offering 13 weeks of competitive and social play:
- Quarter 1: January – March
- Quarter 2: April – June
- Quarter 3: July – September
- Quarter 4: October – December
As a member, you’ll enjoy free entry to all regular club sessions — no door fees, ever! Each member can participate in more than 22+ sessions per quarter, including both ACF-rated and Queensland Junior-rated tournaments held on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. (Note: Our four special Family Day events are separately ticketed.)

In ages past, when lords held court and torches burned low in stone‑wrought keeps, wise men gathered over checkered boards to measure wit against wit. Many a tale speaks of rulers who learned that true dominion is won not by might of arm, but by counsel, foresight, and steadfast resolve. As the ancient scripture proclaimeth, “By wisdom a house is builded, and by understanding it is established.” So is every noble game wrought — one careful stroke at a time.

In honour of the reigning spirit of contemporary chess excellence, the Enclave offers these guiding insights drawn from the approach of Magnus Carlsen — the Magus of the Endgame, the Sultan of Squeezes, the quiet destroyer of equal positions:
- Value the small edges. Carlsen’s brilliance lies not in fireworks but in extracting victory from positions others call “dead equal.” A tiny advantage, nurtured patiently, becomes a winning plan.

Let it be proclaimed throughout the realm that the Bishop’s Sacrifice shall be contested over two consecutive Tuesdays, upon the 17th and 24th days of March, in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty‑Six.
The first clash of minds shall commence as the castle bell tolls 7:00 in the evening, where each noble competitor shall be granted 25 minutes upon the clock to marshal their armies, devise cunning stratagems, and press their claim upon the chequered field.
